Heh...

I admit it. I'm sheepish at how jaded I was at seeing the bots run over this game, and thinking that nothing was going on to deal with them. So angry, that I went in search of the bot scripting sites to find out exactly what was going on.

I know Anet did a great job on this. It seems that each of those cheating cockroaches got what they deserved (as evident in the "banned" posts there).

Thank You.

I doubt it.

The game is old,not many people will find it worth it to do it all again no matter what their motivation is(HoM,friends..) it's hard to justify starting over on a game that's going to be dead in a year or so(or whenever GW2 comes out).

I'm sure some accounts will be sold because of this but I highly doubt that nearly 75% of the people banned will buy another one.

I just became more elite today even without GWAMM status.

The Elite don't need to cheat.

Woot, goodbye and good riddance to rubbish today.

It's like two people getting into an automotive race and the guy who is driving an eighty five civic getting pissed off because homeboy showed up to face him driving a lambo.
I did the drunkard title, the natural way.

It took me 3 1/2 years.

So yeah, I sort of take an offense to people botting said title. It's a pain in the tailpipe and prolly the only one I'm actually proud of completing since I don't have any serious pvp titles. If anet were to say that it's ok to use though I would be fine with that, after all they've let countless people slide with cart. made easy.

I don't really know how the drunk bot works; but obviously they have an issue with anything that alters the games code, and if it does then it's prolly a bad thing to use.

edit: Oh yeah, ty anet for banning the pvp botters. I ran into a few mesmers running interrupt bots in AB that I never reported but were pretty darn obvious. Seeing a mes switch targets and interrupt quicker then it takes a human eye to even read the skill being used is enough to make you scream at your computer.

I used a beeper that went off every few minutes, it took me a week. Granted I didn't sleep much that week. Luckily it was during Wintersday so I had the benefit of playing Snowball Arena as I evaded sleep.

EDIT: Whoops, yeah getting the money for all the alc took me like 6 months to a year in there somewhere.

i've been sifting through this thread and came across something called ksmod. i had no idea that something like this even existed. I'm just interested in enabling high-res textures on other peoples armor in outposts.

will using this mod get me banned?

I don't play religiously, I come and go. But I started on that title just a few weeks after factions came out & didnt finish till eotn. I'm not really a wealthy player, but that wasn't really my point nor should it matter. In my list of all time favorite games, Guild Wars is up there with Xenogears & the ps1 FF games.

Well the guy with the ironic name you are responding to isn't innocent and have yet to make any real point.

Also technically those making the bots aren't doing anything wrong, the people using them are.
And again you make a statement that you are unable to back up. Where is the proof of this?

I have to say, I don't really see how this fixes anything. Almost 4000 people were banned today. 4000 of how many currently active? I would bet that over 50% of these bans were retroactive. So, someone that may have gotten curious for 30 seconds, 4 years ago that could have spent thousands of hours since then gets a retroactive ban instead of things being solved at that point in time. I don't think that would be fair botter or not, there are a lot of people that experiment with them just to see if they work. On top of the fact that banning current and past offenders does nothing to prevent new bots from arising. Guaranteed, this is not the end of the botting problem, people are too intuitive, and why not, they have been given no reason not to be.

Agreed 100%. Cheaters shall have their eternal souls reaped by the true god of death! BOW BEFORE THE FINAL JUDGE! Kneel before The Ender of All! Know the suffering of Omega Death! Dhuum will come for all those foolish enough to cheat!

I wish the Goddess of Truth was the one to ban the botters. God knows she needs the PR to win the favour of the players after she irked so many of them in NF.

Just imagine the Seer of Truth appearing and then max Z rank emote falling on the banned offender.

This just turned Dhuum, a bad guy, into a hero.

I don't bot and don't plan to but when so many people do bot in a "grind free game" you have to ask yourself why. If getting Drunkard legally was fun most people would get it legally. It's not fun, it's boring and tedious and that's why many people cheat for it.

Treat the cause of the illness and not just the symptom.

I doubt that they went back 4+ years to look at the play history of every player.... or if they would even be able to do that...
